Paleopolis is the ancient capital of the Cycladic island of Andros. In the summer of 1992, in times that systematic archaeological excavations had not yet been carried out, nine giant cement ears were secretly submerged in the waters of the ancient city, in an area where diving is strictly prohibited. Two of the ears remain in their original position. The rest seems to have been “stolen” over the past years. Today, 25 years later, the giant ears have entered the local legends with villagers talking about the existence of fragments of a giant statue, somewhere underwater in the ancient port.

the ears of paleopolis (1992) are permanently displayed underwater at the ancient port of Paleopolis.
