white season

Sound installation

During the winter months, an unusual occurrence takes place at the flea market on Adrianou Street, just in front of the ancient agora in Athens. The distinct sound of cicadas, typically associated with the hot midsummer season, fills the air. Cicadas are insects commonly found in tropical and temperate regions, known for producing a shrill noise during hot weather.

The work’s intention is to raise awareness about climate change. The reactions of people passing by were captured on film, documenting their responses to this unexpected sound during the winter season.

Action took place at

Adrianou street, Athens 1999
